Lake Mburo National Park Day Safari is a rewarding encounter, conveniently located close to the western high way that connects Kampala City to the parks of western Uganda. It is a very special place with a medley of habitats ranging from dry hillsides, rocky outcrops, bushy thickets, open and wooded savannas to forest, lakes and swamps. its sculptured landscape, rolling hills and idyllic lake shores, forest galleries, seasonal and permanent swamps and grassy valleys all support a wealth of wildlife in a tropical setting.

The park is remarkably different from other parks. It’s the best park to view the Gigantic, Eland, Impala, Zebras and Acacia associated birds. Common mammal species include Warthogs, Buffalos, Oribi, Defassa, Waterbucks, Reed bucks and the Eland Antelopes. Leopards and Hyenas are also present and lions have returned to the park after years of poaching and near extinction. Tabora Cisticola, Great nipe, Abyssinian ground horn bill and white winged warbler. Acacia woodland bird species are especially well represented.

Lake Mburo National Park is 371 sq km in size, lake Mburo has a varied landscape full of interest and color. Lake Mburo National Park is refreshing and full of life, given its strategic location near the Kampala-Mbarara highway.

The five lakes within the Park attract hippos and crocodiles while fringing swamps hide secretive papyrus specialists such as the Sitatunga antelope and red, black and yellow papyrus Gonalek. Lake Mburo National park also has an impressive bird list with over 332 species recorded including Shoe bills, Papyrus yellow warbler, African fin foot, saddle billed stork, brown chested wattled plover and Carrutter’s Cisticola.

Lake Mburo National Park Activities

Lake Mburo National Park offers a variety of activities which include Nature walks, Game drives, boat cruise, horse rides, bicycle park riding and bird watching which cannot be done just on a Uganda Day Tour. Game Tracks

Lake Mburo National Park game tracks offers great views of several Savannah animals and also different bird species can be sighted along the game tracks, which takes you via Ruroko track that passes rock kopjies happens a home of elusive klip sprinter. The lakeside track passes through dense woodland that habitats bush buck and bush duikers, to kigarama hill which provides a panoramic view of Lake Mburo National Park, This lake and seven more can also be seen from the kazuma lookout.

Rwonyo rest camp

Rwonyo rest camp happens to be the center of the tourism activities in the park since it happens to be the starting point of the nature walks and game drives.

Salt Licks

Nature walks a round the park more so walks to Rwonyo, enable tourists to visit a natural salt lick that is frequented by the wildlife the walk view is fascinated by a timber scenery.

Conservation Education Center

Lake Mburo National Park has a conservation education center located 1 km west of sanga gate and this appears to provide accommodation and an education hall for school groups, visitors, seminars and workshops.

Boat Cruise

The eastern shores of Lake Mburo National Park can be explored on a Boat Cruise if they are to explore the entire eastern shores of the park, departing from a jetty at the lake side campsite near Rwonyo always watch out for crocodiles and hippos during the two hour boat cruise. You can also sight a variety of bird species which include Pelicans, Heron, Cormorant fish eagle, Shoe bills and the Fin foot though they are rare.

Your tour guide/driver will take you through the park giving you information about the park and different animal species that you encounter, on the drive you will be able to see and come across the different types of antelopes search as Impalas, Reed bucks, Topes, Bush bucks and the giant shy Elands, though you stand chances to see Wart hogs, Zebras, Cape Buffaloes and on a lucky day you can come across a Leopard though they are shy animals that don’t like disclosing them selves in open places, all that is done with an opportunity to rich out bird life hence marking amazing Uganda Day Tours.
